Why Businesses Should Have Quality Drinking Water

Family-owned and operated Pure Water Technology dives into why it's super important for businesses like gyms, schools, and offices to make sure their team gets to sip on the good stuff—top-notch drinking water.

Happy Monday everyone!

It was a light week for news this week but that doesn’t stop us from highlighting an upcoming holiday: UN-Water’s World Water Day. This day occurs every year on March 22nd (Friday) and is meant to celebrate water and raise awareness for those without clean access. This year’s theme is “Leveraging Water for Peace”, which we must say is a little intense…

Alright, now for the other news.

Why Businesses Should Have Quality Drinking Water

Family-owned and operated Pure Water Technology dives into why it's super important for businesses like gyms, schools, and offices to make sure their team gets to sip on the good stuff—top-notch drinking water. They point out how fancy water systems don't just give teams a health boost but also save cash and help them work better. They share stories of businesses that swapped pricey bottled water for their slick water purification setups, saving tons of money and space while making everyone happier and healthier. They even talk about how clean water can make teams more creative and less stressed. Plus, it's way better for the planet than using a bunch of plastic bottles. The article is a big thumbs-up for making sure crews have access to great-tasting, clean water.

Highlights from 2024 WQA Convention

FoodBev released their recap of the 2024 WQA Convention & Exposition, and the spotlight was on the latest in water treatment technology. From the smallest UV disinfection system, the PearlAqua Micro by AquiSense, to the advanced Waterdrop CoreRO Countertop Water Filter, there's a lot to get excited about from a couple weeks ago. The PearlAqua Micro stands out for its compact size and power, using UV-C LEDs to zap contaminants. Meanwhile, Waterdrop's countertop wonder promises to strip water of nearly all impurities with its five-stage filtration process, all without taking up much space. Other highlights included Crystal IS's Klaran UVC LEDs, which can disinfect not just water but air and surfaces too. And the Rebel water dispenser from Blupura, which delivers both hot and cold water at an impressive rate of 30 liters per hour.

Does Fluoride in Drinking Water Raise ADHD Risk in Kids?

Tommy Stricklin's article for SpringWell dives into a hot topic: Does fluoride in our drinking water increase ADHD risks for kids? Even though fluoride is known as "Nature's Cavity Fighter," helping to keep our teeth strong, some studies are hinting that there might be more to the story, especially for our kids' brains. It turns out, while fluoride has been doing a great job fighting cavities since 1945, some researchers have noticed that places with more fluoride in the water also have more kids with ADHD. But, it's not all black and white. While some studies show a link between fluoride and ADHD, others don't see it at all. And even though this might make some parents worry, experts haven't found a clear-cut answer that fluoride is the bad guy here. What's clear is that too much fluoride isn't good, leading to stuff like tooth and bone problems, and maybe even messing with kids' brains in ways we don't want.

PUR vs Berkey

Our favorite guru Brian Campbell from Water Filter Guru recently compared two big names in countertop water filtration: PUR and Berkey. PUR's known for its budget-friendly pitchers and faucet filters, while Berkey shines with its stainless steel, gravity-fed systems. When it comes to upfront costs, PUR wins hands down, making it a great pick for those watching their wallets. But Berkey's got the edge in long-term savings thanks to filters that last ages and a design that holds more water. Performance-wise, Berkey's the champ at pulling out more bad stuff from water, but it's got a little issue with its fluoride filters adding aluminum oxide into the mix. PUR's filters are certified for certain contaminants, giving some peace of mind there. Brian’s final data-driven rankings: PUR = 7.5/10, Berkey = 9.1/10.
