Water Filtration for Businesses

A recent article from Atlanta-based PURE Energy Water & Air highlights why commercial spaces need more robust solutions than residential setups.

Happy Monday!

Here at the ‘Treats we tend to skip over news about portable water filters, but the Guzzle H2O Stream caught our eye because, well, the name.

Their slogan: pure water. no trash.

Alright, now for the real news.

Water Filtration for Businesses

A recent article from Atlanta-based PURE Energy Water & Air highlights why commercial spaces need more robust solutions than residential setups. The piece breaks down how different industries require specialized systems: reverse osmosis for restaurants for better food quality and to comply with health standards, UV disinfection for medical facilities and daycare centers to eliminate pathogens, and activated carbon for offices and retail stores to improve taste and odor. These systems are designed to handle higher water volumes as well. With stricter regulations and higher customer expectations, the team says investing in the right filtration system is becoming crucial for businesses across sectors. The article points out that water quality impacts everything from employee health to customer satisfaction, especially in food service and healthcare industries.

Aqua Membranes Secures Funding

Over in the startup world, Aqua Membranes has a fresh influx of cash after securing Series B funding to meet the demand of its rapidly growing customer base. The Albuquerque-based startup, which prints spacers on reverse osmosis membranes (think: high-tech water filters), is set to quadruple its revenue this year. With demand increasing, Aqua Membranes plans to use the new funds to expand production, open a new facility in Knoxville, bulk up its team, and develop new products. CEO Craig Beckman is pumped, saying the company is "more committed and able than ever to drive reverse osmosis innovation and make clean water accessible for all."

U.S. EPA Seeks Input on Perchlorate

The EPA is gearing up to regulate perchlorate (a contaminant that can disrupt thyroid function) in drinking water, and they're calling on small businesses to weigh in. A new review panel is forming to gather input on potential impacts of the upcoming National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR). The agency is particularly interested in hearing from small public water systems serving 10,000 or fewer people. With court-ordered deadlines looming (proposed rule by November 2025, final by May 2027), the EPA's moving fast.

DIY Well Water Testing

Florida Pure Water Solutions recently wrote an article all about DIY testing for Florida's home well systems. While having a professional analysis done is still ideal, savvy homeowners can use these tests to get a preliminary read:

  • Sight and Smell Test: Start with a simple sight, smell, and taste test – any cloudiness or funky odors are red flags.

  • Hardness Test: A few drops of soap in a water-filled bottle will tell you if your water is hard (if the water becomes cloudy with a few bubbles).

  • pH Test: Use simple pH test strips and look to see if your water is in the sweet spot, between 6.5 and 8.5.

  • Chlorine Test: Add a few drops of liquid chlorine test solution (available at pool supply stores) and if the water turns pink or red, chlorine is present.

  • Sediment Test: A 24-hour sediment test in a clear jar might reveal some unwelcome settling.

  • Copper Test: A white bowl left out might turn blue-green, indicating copper leaching into the water.

  • Nitrate Test: Get a nitrate test from the hardware store; anything above 10 mg/L is a no-go, especially for households with infants.

What else is happening:

Stay healthy, stay hydrated. We’ll catch you next week.
