Morning, folks!
It’s a busy time of year for, well, basically everyone. So we’re skipping the beloved intro.
Let’s get right into it!
New Filter for Lead in Schools
The Louisville Water Company just launched Pure Spout, a new filter that tackles lead contamination in school drinking water. This new device attaches right to drinking fountains (aka bubblers if you’re from Wisconsin), making it easy and cheap to ensure safe water for kids. Spencer Bruce, the CEO, says they're all about protecting children's health, especially with old pipes in schools. Mark Campbell, one of the creators, mentions that Pure Spout is a quick, affordable fix that simply swaps out the usual spout on fountains. Distributed by Blue Focus, LLC, Pure Spout is already getting national attention and is set to boost water safety across the country.
Another PFAS Lawsuit
Another week, another PFAS lawsuit—lawyers have teamed up and filed a major lawsuit on behalf of Columbia, SC. They're suing big companies like 3M, DuPont, Daikin America, BASF, and more for dumping PFAS chemicals into their city's water supply. Columbia claims these companies polluted their water, causing health risks, and now they need hundreds of millions to install new filtration systems. Instead of taking a $12 million settlement, Columbia is going for a bigger payout to cover the high costs of cleaning their water. This lawsuit is no surprise and part of a now-common trend where cities are suing for PFAS pollution.
Cheers to Hetch Hetchy
Local San Francisco news station KRON writes about how awesome San Francisco's tap water is, thanks to the Sierra Nevada snowmelt stored in the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. This pristine water travels 160 miles to reach the Bay Area. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) just released their yearly Water Quality Report, and the results are impressive. After testing the water 100,000 times, they found it meets or beats all state and federal standards. Dennis Herrera from SFPUC says their water is top-notch and affordable, serving millions of residents and businesses. So, while rent in SF is outrageous, residents can skip buying bottled water or extra filters because their tap water is already some of the best in the country. The 2023 San Francisco water quality report can be found here.
Eco-Friendly Water Purification for Homes
Family-owned Central Florida Water Treatment emphasizes the growing need for sustainable water purification systems, especially in places like Florida with its unique water issues. The article checks out various eco-friendly options like activated carbon filters and reverse osmosis systems, which are both efficient and cost-effective. It also highlights the need for professional installation to make sure everything runs smoothly. For dealers, keeping up with these green solutions and different innovations like solar-powered and UV light systems can help meet the growing demand for green options.
