Lifetime Warranty

Aqua Life of Houston recently posted details on their lifetime warranty so we decided to take a closer look.

Happy Monday!

This week Beam Global announced BeamWell™, a self-contained desalination system for use in war zones or disaster areas where clean water isn’t available.

Sure it’s cool and all that it turns seawater into freshwater and that it provides a source of electricity, but the best part is clearly the four mopeds it comes with and charges (which are used for the distribution of its resources).

Alright, now for the real news.

Lifetime Warranty

Aqua Life of Houston recently posted details on their lifetime warranty so we decided to take a closer look. The Progressive Revolution Series is a package that comes with a transferable lifetime warranty, covering all parts except shipping and service call fees, and homeowners can even take the system with them when they move (for a small fee). They say that their work comes from a combo of high-quality components, including coconut shell activated carbon and KDF 55 media, which remove chemicals, reduce bacterial growth, and soften water. All systems come with a Compartmentalized Intellitank technology, which separates and rotates media to prevent clumping. They say this tech allows their single-tank system to match the performance of pricier dual-tank units, offering better filtration without breaking the bank.

WQA Podcast: Lead & Copper

WQA is back with another podcast episode, this week talking about lead and copper improvements and features WQA’s government affairs director Jeremy Pollack. Here’s the quick summary:

  • Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) aim to replace all lead service lines within 10 years and lower the lead action level from 15 to 10 parts per billion

  • Water utilities were required to create an inventory of lead service lines and notify customers by October 16, 2024

  • The new rules require improved tap sampling methods and public education on lead in drinking water

  • Point-of-use water treatment systems will play a larger role in addressing lead contamination, especially in schools

  • WQA is providing resources to help members prepare for the new regulations

Fridge Water Filters?

Atlantic Coast Water Clinic’s recent article dives into the difference between a fridge built-in filter and a whole-home RO system. While refrigerator filters use activated carbon to tackle common culprits like chlorine and lead, RO systems are much better overall. The team explains that whole-home setups remove much more contaminants, from microscopic parasites to industrial chemicals. They conclude the article by saying how fridge filters might be convenient for a quick glass, but RO systems are the move for comprehensive water treatment.

PFAS in Bottled Water

A new study in ACS ES&T Water has found PFAS in 63% of bottled water samples across 87 brands from 15 countries. The research, covering 112 bottled and 41 tap water samples, revealed PFOA and PFOS in over 99% of bottled samples, with Chinese tap water showing higher PFAS levels than British. There was no significant difference in PFAS levels between container types or water varieties, which only further proves the need for better filtration across the board.

What else is happening:

  • Aquatech announced they will deliver all water management needs at Stegra's new green steel plant in Sweden, which plans to be the world's first large-scale green steel plant

  • American Aqua writes about lead in drinking water, covering where it comes from, what’s considered safe, and what to do about it

  • Connecticut and Massachusetts-based Aqua Pump, aka “your Golden Eagle filtration specialist,” wrote about how a well pump works

  • Veteran-owned and AZ-based Clean H2O Pro released an article about healthcare tips for dealing with hard water (no surprise, the top tip is to install a water softener)

‘Till next week.
