Annual Water Quality Survey

Aquasana has released their annual survey results after surveying over 1000 U.S. adults earlier this year.

Morning!

Shoutout to anyone who also felt like they blinked and July was over. Here’s to enjoying the rest of the 14+ hour days of sunlight this summer.

Alright, now for the news.

Annual Water Quality Survey

Aquasana has released their annual survey results after surveying over 1000 U.S. adults earlier this year. Here are their findings:

  • Longevity: 76% of people think drinking filtered water helps them live longer.

  • Health Concerns: 77% believe that having clean tap water at home is super important for their health.

  • Lead is #1: 24% of respondents said lead was the number-one contaminant of concern (up from 16% last year).

  • Microplastics: 83% of Americans are concerned about microplastics being in their drinking water.

  • Tap Water: Just 8% said that tap water is the most trustworthy drinking source (down from 31% the year before).

  • Trust in Filters: More folks trust filtered water over bottled or straight tap water.

DIY Water Softeners?

In a recent House Digest article, Chuck Pound, a master plumber, talks about whether it's a good idea to build your own water softener. For those of you who know your way around plumbing, it’s doable, but Chuck warns that it’s not for first-timers. He mentions that you’ll need to research and test your water first, then gather supplies, and make sure you follow local codes and safety rules. He suggests looking into brands like Aquasana and Halo for their reliable performance and good warranties. Also, don’t forget to ensure proper installation to keep those warranties valid. Chuck also points out that not every home needs a water softener, so testing your water first is a must.

Ozone Integration

In an article from WCP Online, they dive into how mixing traditional water filters with ozone treatment can really boost water quality. Ozone is great at killing bacteria and viruses, and it also helps remove things like iron and manganese, which can then be filtered out by mechanical or carbon filters. This combo not only boosts disinfection but also reduces the need for chlorine, resulting in better-tasting and odorless water. Ozone works faster than chlorine and helps eliminate unpleasant colors and tastes from water. However, using ozone treatment requires proper on-site equipment and adherence to safety regulations.

The Power of Personalization

Amanda Crangle, who has extensive experience in marketing for the water treatment industry, recently dove into how dealers can boost their business through personal touches in their marketing. Amanda shares a story about getting a personalized mailer from a window company, which led her to buy from them because it felt more human and relatable. She relates this to dealers in the industry by talking about showing off your team, sharing customer stories about how your systems have improved their water quality, and personalizing your communication based on customers' specific water issues, like hard water or contaminants.

What else is happening:

  • Taking inspiration from a protein found in plants, researchers have created a new way to remove harmful heavy-metal ions from water

  • Water purity is pretty important in hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and labs—this is what Absolute Water Technologies says to look for in commercial water purification systems

  • Aqua Pump, water specialists in Connecticut and Massachusetts, writes all about what’s included in home, well, and septic inspections

  • Xylem’s Hometown H2O initiative brings clean water to PA family with well upgrades (which marks 17 families helped through the project)

  • Peacock Water writes about how reverse osmosis remineralization improves water quality

NOTE: Two weeks ago we mistakenly referred to descaler and filter systems as water softeners. This has been corrected, and thanks to Ronald Gagnon at Aqua-Pure Water Conditioning in Antioch, IL for the clarification!

Have a great week, y’all!
